Some Barbecue Techniques for the Barbecue Season

While marinating before you cook will add flavor, covering your meat in barbecue sauces before cooking will dry your meat out, and can cause it to burn. This happens because most barbecue sauces contain high amounts of fat and sugar, and these will burn easy.

However, seasoning your meat will work well, and will not have any adverse effects. Many people like to apply rubs. I prefer to add my seasonings to the meat about an hour before I grill it. This gives them a chance to be absorbed by the meats.

If You Don’t Have a Gas Grill - You Might Want to Consider One

Gas grills give you so many features and options that other types of grills do not have. If you are looking for a grill that will be beautiful, reliable, and will last for many years to come, you may want to consider looking into stainless steel gas grills.

Gas grills, unlike some of the other grills types, have the ability to come with many different types of cooking surfaces. These different cooking surfaces include a BBQ surface, a flat grill, and a ribbed grill. Some grills might offer non stick, but I have found a porcelain grid is easy to clean and maintain.

Grilling a Steak Chicago Style

You will find different grilling techniques in different areas of the U.S. It’s funny how barbecuing or grilling using a certain technique can bring someone to say “Oh yeah. You mean grilling Chicago style” or something.

Well, this technique is simple and is called Chicago style.

Plank Grilling Fish

Have you heard of or ever tried to plank fry fish or chicken? Me either. I just recently heard of it - found this video - and I thought this might be of interest to you. I have a salmon in the freezer for my wife and plan to give this a test in the near future. This method is used to give your food a nice smoky flavor.
