Steak Barbecue Contest

Filed under: Barbecue — Bob Blick @ 12:15 pm

I was watching the steak barbecue grilling contest last night on the Food Network. It’s interesting as everyone has their own thoughts as to what makes the steaks come out best.

One guy pierces the steak and says that allows his marinade to get into the steak and make it taste better. Another contestant says never pierce as steak as you lose juices. Actually that’s probably the thought most barbecuers go by. But it shows nothing is written in stone and you need to experiment.

Those steaks sure looked good! I’m going out today and picking up a couple for my wife and myself.

One grilling tip I may have neglected that a contestant brought up. Don’t take your steaks right from the refrigerator to the grill. Bring them out early enough so they reach room temperature. Otherwise when they first go on the grill, you are cooking off the cold and it tends to dry out the meat somewhat.
